Mom called to tell me that Dad got a “smiley” at dialysis.
They take his blood to check all of his levels, and he gets a sheet that lets him know what things are out of range and what he needs to adjust in his diet.
Well, he’s sticking to his diet well, and all of his blood levels were within acceptable range . . . and he got a smiley sticker on his paper. I asked Mom if she was going to hang it on the fridge. He got a “good job” sticker, another time.
The doctors are very happy with his progress, and he’s going to talk to the kidney transplant team in a few weeks. Mom’s even going to be tested to see if she’s a match. (I’m his only blood relative, and I’ve got his blood pressure and a used to be on dialysis . . . and he wants to trade UP with a kidney, so I’m off the list.)
She said he was proud of his paper. I know that my middle schoolers like stickers, and my 12th graders used to like them, too. Guess the same goes for 69 year old men.
And here’s another sticker for your dad. I think EVERYBODY likes getting stickers.
That is terrific news about your dad! It must be a relief after his ups and downs.
We are the Cougars in our school. I saw a cougar paw *thing* while shopping at Joann’s Fabrics. I should use that on good papers at school.
*****For the life of me, I cannot come up with the word for what I bought. It will come to me after I post. Sigh.
